Dr Jasmina Dedic-Hagan
BSc, PhD, MBBS, IFMCP, FRACGP
Specialist GP, Functional Medicine Doctor, Board Certified in Lifestyle Medicine
Jasmina is a medical doctor with particular interest in Functional Medicine, a science- based approach that seeks to understand the root cause of illness. She focuses on the biochemically unique aspects of each patient and then tailors individual interventions to restore health. In addition to her specialty training, Jasmina is certified with the prestigious Institute of Functional Medicine in the US and is board certified in Lifestyle Medicine.
Prior to becoming a doctor, Jasmina completed a PhD in Molecular Biology, publishing her work on the genetics of cardiovascular disease and the regulation of gene expression. She is now applying her knowledge of genetics and biochemistry to her areas of interest which include gut health, autoimmune disease, endometriosis, PCOS, fertility, perimenopause / menopause, metabolic issues, cardiovascular disease and sports nutrition. This experience is rare amongst doctors but is important given the increasing relevance of personalised genetic testing in the understanding of chronic disease.
Research shows that lifestyle is a major contributor to the risk of chronic illness. Jasmina offers evidence-based nutrition, exercise and stress management advice. She is aware that applying this advice in real life can be very challenging and teams up with our health coaches to offer personalised support.
Jasmina believes that patient education and empowerment are critical to long-term health. Her extensive teaching experience allows her to translate complex science into a language that patients understand and can engage with. You will probably be on the receiving end of her emails, packed with practical advice and great resources – all tailored to your needs and circumstances.
Jasmina is a mother of 3 boys (2 of them teenagers!), understands the challenges of modern families and enjoys supporting them on their journey. She was once an elite alpine skier and is passionate about sports nutrition, fitness and outdoor activities. Jasmina is currently in Europe, gaining additional skills in Wilderness, Alpine and High Altitude medicine. She loves combining this with looking after her patients via Telehealth. She can work around your busy schedule and meet you in the evenings.
Her special areas of interest are:
- Gastrointestinal health
- Autoimmune disease
- Womens’s health – endometriosis, PCOS, fertility, perimenopause / menopause, bone health
